Information You're Finding!
Fitbit can work with Peloton indoor bike, all you'd have to do is share the data once you'd be done with the workout. You might've to login into your Fitbit account but after it your data will automatically begin to show up in Fitbit dashboard.
What Is What: Fitbit & Peloton
We’ve talked about Fitbit a lot here at Chronoat. So let’s start with Peloton.
Peloton is an American Exercise equipment company based in New York City. However, the Peloton we’re referring to here is the indoor bike that the company makes for workouts. To those of you who’re not familiar with the Peloton indoor bike, you can think of it as the iPhone of the indoor equipment industry. It’s incredibly famous and one of the most sought-after workout tools by millions.
Fitbit, on the other hand, is a fitness wearable manufacturer. Although now under the leadership of Alphabet Inc Fitbit’s main goal to provide excellent health trackers hasn’t changed. Even after the much success of the Fitbit smartwatches (Sense and Versa) series.
Fitbit’s Stranded Bond With Peloton
So what’s the answer to the question: “Does Fitbit work with Peloton?
Answer: Your Fitbit tracker can work with the Peloton the mobile application. However, it can’t communicate directly with the Peloton the indoor bike. In other words, you can’t broadcast the data from Fitbit to your bike, Peloton doesn’t allow it. Although, you can see the data from the bike on your Fitbit dashboard.

Peloton Is Very Choosy
According to the Peloton, you need to have a device that has ANT+ technology for the indoor bike to work with an external tracker. Given that Fitbit doesn’t have the ANT+ technology in any of its trackers, it is not possible to achieve 100% efficiency.
Before you jump on the “Fitbit is bad” bandwagon I’d like to point out that not even Apple Watches have ANT+ technology. So this issue is not because of Fitbit but rather because Peloton happens to be very cagy when it comes to their machines.
If You Want To Track Heart Rate On Peloton…
Since Fitbit trackers fails when Peloton ask them to show their ANT+ capacity, if you want to track your heart rate while on the bike there is something you can do. Although, keep in mind this will mean investing in an another heart rate tracker which is compatible with Peloton.
The list of Heart Rate monitors which can work Peloton bikes is this:
Garmin | HRM Dual, HRM Pro, HRM-Tri, HRM-Run, and HRM-Swim |
Wahoo | Tickr, Tickr X, and Tickr Fit |
Polar | H9, H10, and Verity Sense |
Coospo | H6, H8, H808S, HW706, and HW807 |
Scosche | Rhythm 24, Rhythm+, and Rhythm+ 2.0 |
However, it should be noted that all of these options listed above will cost you significantly. In which case we would suggest that you stick with Fitbit while on the Peloton bikes. For sure, you will not be able to have the smooth sync we don’t see the reason to invest thousands of dollars just because Peloton is choosy with its devices. Not to mention Versa 5 & Sense 3 will be release soon which means there is good chance they will have ANT+ tech.
What Fitbit Can Do?
Recently we discussed here how you can connect Fitbit with S Health using Strava. For our friends who don’t know about Strava, it is a third-party application that works as a middleman. I’m not suggesting you should use Strava to do it, but here is what we think Fitbit can do to mend the issue.
Fitbit can leverage its mobile application and use it as a proxy. By doing this your mobile phone can create the Bluetooth Heartrate sensor for the Peloton device to recognize and work with. It is not the perfect solution, but it is something that we reckon can work for Fitbit trackers.
How You Can Connect Fitbit With Peloton
As mentioned above Fitbit does connect with Peloton mobile application. So if you have done the workout on it and now you want to transfer the captured data to your Fitbit dashboard you can do it easily. Peloton allows it and it facilities it, just follow these steps.
- After finishing a class on your Peloton Bike or Tread, tap the Share button and choose Fitbit.
- Log in to your Fitbit account.
- Once logged in, the metrics from the current workout, as well as all upcoming completed workouts, will be automatically shared on your Fitbit dashboard.
Each workout shared on Fitbit will be recorded as an exercise, capturing the duration of your workout, distance covered, and calories burned. This comprehensive data will provide you with a complete understanding of the intensity and effort you put into your workouts.
“Peloton Not Giving Data To Fitbit?”
In the unlikely event, your Fitbit Dashboard isn’t showing the data from Peloton. You should remove the connection and then establish it again. You can also delete the mobile application or update it to make sure there is nothing wrong at this end. While it shouldn’t come to this but even after doing the above two you can contact the support at Peloton and they could help you in proceeding further ahead.
