However, if you are not, and you don’t love Fossil smartwatches, it is okay, we can help you out. Fossil Gen 5E is one of the best Android Watches you can get on your hands. Yes, it runs on Google Wear OS 2 which might not be on par with the watchOS of Apple. With Fossil Gen 5E limitation to what you can do relies on your creative thoughts.

Well, you can’t download the native WhatsApp application directly on your Fossil Gen 5E. While WhatsApp has released native application for Wear OS 3. We don’t have that luxury on Fossil Gen 5E. Fortunately, there is a workaround that you can implement to make the match.

Although a thing to keep in mind: You might find issues dealing with Voice Notes, Video Calls, And Voice Calls. Basically you’ll get the same or somewhat similar experience as you get on Fitbit Versa 3 or Fitbit Versa 4.

How To Get WhatsApp On Fossil Gen 5E

Since Google Wear OS 2 doesn’t have WhatsApp available on Play Store there is no chance to install the application on your Fossil Gen 5E unless in near future WhatsApp changes its mind and release it’s application to Wear OS 2 smartwatches as well. Alternatives To WhatsApp Issue

In the case above mentioned nothing works out for you and you are screaming your heart out, there are three alternatives that you can go for into your Fossil Gen 5E.

• Your first option is to subscribe to Informr. It is based on a paid model but it is not just about WhatsApp. It supports various other Social Media Platforms too. So, you won’t ever have to worry about receiving notifications at any time.

• The second option on the list is Notify. I haven’t used it on Fossil Gen 5E but the website does state it supports Fossil smartwatches, and I don’t think it is paid.

• Lastly, there is a messenger for Wear OS and it is a free mode to set up a systematic notification flow. The great thing about is that it also allows you to view images, gifs, and stickers on the screen of your Fossil Gen 5E.

Will Fossil Gen 5E Ever Get WhatsApp Application?

Well, it depends on both WhatsApp and Fossil. Right now WhatsApp has released its native application just for smartwatches that are running on Wear OS 3. So if we ever want to see WhatsApp on Gen 5 or even it’s predecessor like Gen 4 and Gen 3 two things need to happen.

First Case: WhatsApp release the application for Wear OS 2 and those before it. Basically make it backward compatible.

Second Case: Fossil upgrades the Gen 5E to the Wear OS 3 and makes it worthy of that exclusive list. Sadly, this is rather unlikely to happen given Fossil strong stance to keep Wear OS 3 on smartwatches with Snapdragon 4100 or better.

In each case one thing is certain we are not getting any new update anytime soon. For now it’s just waiting game.
