“I Want To Sell My Apple Watch!”

Speaking from experience I’ve seen many cases where people get bored after a while with their gadgets. I can’t lie I’ve been the victim of it myself. So it’s alright to sell your Apple Watch. They’re expansive so ROI isn’t bleak too. Recently my Dad sold his Series 7 and he got something like 500 AED for it (He sold it in Dubai) which is honestly not bad.

But it is very important to make sure your Apple Watch isn’t connected to your Apple ID. Quite often people forget to do their due diligence and they end up with either their data being tampered with or violated. Hence to put ourselves on the safe side let’s see how we can disconnect Apple Watch from Apple ID.

Unpair Apple Watch From Apple ID Using iPhone

If you have iPhone in your one hand and Apple Watch in the other the process to remove the account couldn’t be simpler. All you’d need to do is go to the WATCH application on your phone. Select the My Watch tab and then click on All Watches. Here you’d see the all Apple Watches that are connected to your iPhone.

Next, all you need to do is tap on the information button beside the watch you want to unpair (i button), and there you’d get the option to Unpair the Watch written in red. Click on it and you might be prompted to enter the Apple ID because of Activation Lock (Activation Lock is a security feature that enables you to protect your Watch in case it’s lost or dead). Enter the Apple ID and voila you would have unpaired your Apple Watch from your iPhone.

However to truly complete the process you’d need to go to ‘Find My’ application and from there tap on the Devices button. From there select your Apple Watch and then click on Remove This Device. This will make sure your smartwatch is completely disconnected.

Note: Prior to erasing all content and settings on your Apple Watch, your iPhone generates a fresh backup of your device, which you can utilize to restore a new Apple Watch. Once your Apple Watch is unpaired, a message will appear indicating that it is ready to be paired with another device.

Remove Apple Watch From Apple ID Without iPhone

In happenstance where you don’t have iPhone on your hand, and you need to remove your Apple Watch from your Account then you can do it from the smartwatch itself as well. Just follow this path: Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

Here scroll down and click on Erase All.

Just in case your watch is one with cellular coverage and you have an active plan like that of Google Fi  or Straight Talk you might be asked to keep it. So well I guess that depends on you. If you’re planning to sell it then there is no need to keep anything. Anyways, once you’d be done with that, your watch will be factory reset and lose connection with your iPhone.

Remove Data From Apple Watch

However, just like we saw above, to complete the process you’d have to login into ‘Find My’ application. If you don’t have iPhone you can do it from any computer. Just follow the same steps we did above. Go to the Device tab and from there locate the Apple Watch that you want to remove, click on it, and then tap on the Remove the Device button.

Doing so will make sure you’ve successfully completed the removal procedure.

Before You Remove Apple Watch From Account…

Since when you unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone your data is lost it is important to understand that you should do so when it’s absolutely necessary. For sure, you can always back up the data to your smartwatch it’s a time-consuming process and no one wants to do that.

Secondly, while it is not the required medium it is good practice to have your Apple Watch and iPhone charged. We talked about this in the reset process as well. However, once again I’d like to add it is not necessary but albeit good practice to integrate. So if your watch and phone are above 50% or so we reckon that’s a solid spot (Tip: You can also use alternative chargers to charge your Apple Watch)

Lastly, make sure your Apple Watch and iPhone are both updated with the latest available firmware. Even though it is quite unheard of to see any technical difficulty arising because of it. We believe you can never be sure enough and thus must cover all the exits. For not only will it ease the whole removal process but ensure your experience remains top-notch and reliable.
