Information You're Finding!
Fitbit Sense Vs TicWatch E3 is a perfect presentation of what makes a smartwatch different from a health tracker. While Sense 2 wins the area of fitness tracking TicWatch E3 is an ideal smartwatch for anyone who needs it.
TicWatch E3: Wear OS 3 Jockey
Released in the June of 2021 TicWatch E3 have generated its fair share of interest in the wearable community. Mostly for its use of WearOS 3 (something that is still quite unique and treasured among the smartwatch lovers) and an ideal set of features for affordable price. Hence there is no denying Mobvoi really scored with this one. It has almost perfect score in everything, be it display prowess or the health tracking side. You are in for a treat either way.
Fitbit Sense: Best For Tracking?
A little older than its today competition Fitbit Sense was released amidst the raging Pandemic. Something many experts believed hurt its chance to rise above the competition. However, year and a half later and things have never appear more brighter. Fitbit didn’t disappoint. Made with intentions to put up an excellent display of health tracking there is little this tracker missed. You have sp02, stress management, temperature tracking. For sure, Fitbit is a health oriented brand so all of it is expected Fitbit Sense still did more than it has too.
Fitbit Sense vs TicWatch E3: Jock Over Best?
So by now we have understood one thing and it is Fitbit Sense and TicWatch E3 are more than enough on their own. They were made with solid base and with time things have only gotten better. However, we are concerned about ideal choice between the two. Hence the question: TicWatch E3 vs Fitbit Sense.
To make the matter easier for you to follow and us to explain, let’s break the answer into sections and find what makes which great where.
BODY In Question
Fitbit Sense and TicWatch E3 have contrasting design.
If you are following us for a while you’d know we are not the biggest fan of Fitbit trackers design here. It is our belief Fitbit could do better. An almost squared shape with little to no essence never stop being boring.
As for Mobvoi creation TicWatch E3 certainly has a strong presence to its design, it’s hard to miss it on wearer arm. However, given the sturdy structure and robust display it certainly has made us place it bit higher than its Fitbit counterpart.
Built Quality
If and when you would have them in your hands you would notice TicWatch E3 is much thicker and wider than Fitbit Sense. Even when there is measurable weight difference between the two. Fitbit Sense weighs 48 grams on the record whereas Ticwatch E3 was found near 32 grams or so.
I have had both on me at the same time and I can’t lie Fitbit Sense seemed much better option to have for a long time. It’s curve edge and undetectable sensors behind makes wearing much easier. Likewise you get the option to choose the bands. Don’t like what you got from company there are many choices on the Internet. Although make sure it is Silicone made band you end up buying often times people are scammed otherwise.
Display Screen
Apart from the screen size, there is little difference here. Fitbit Sense have 1.58 inch OLED screen running its business. The visual output is crispy, you won’t have problem viewing in the sunlight or under intense light. There is also ALWAYS ON mode for you to customize your tracker.
And the same can be said for Mobvoi smartwatch…
TicWatch E3 have 1.30 inch screen, in contrast it’s smaller than its competing partner. I didn’t find any noticeable notice in the display. We even tested the both device and resolution of either of them wasn’t very far apart.
- Resolution of TicWatch E3: (360X360px)
- Resolution of Fitbit Sense: (336X336px)
Resistivity Prowess
Regardless of what you might hear it is important to have safeguards in place to protect your smart devices. I have always fool proofed my gadgets with screen protectors after day one. It is good practice and it keeps them save.
Fitbit and Mobvoi happens to understand the same concern…
As you would see both Fitbit Sense and TicWatch 3E are IP68 certified and as such could tolerate water level til 50 meter depth. Yes, in retrospect number isn’t insane and you could damage your device in extreme conditions. You’d still have 50 meter leverage on your side. Likewise in the case of Fitbit there is also water lock functionality available.
And water ain’t the only natural property these smartwatches can tolerate, they are also capable to survive impact, sand, and dust.
FEATURES At Time
If you are not new to world of smartwatches or health trackers you would know Fitbit have certain audience in mind, their products are crafted to cater the needs with specific pain points. For sure, in recent years they have diverted a bit and you’d see Versa and Sense with functionalities perhaps not needed, their number one goal still remains the same. To provide excellence in fitness regime.
As for Mobvoi watches the same cannot be said, they aren’t just cut from the same cloth. Just like the narrative we discussed above they are certainly not hyper focused towards a particular aspect or audience. Mobvoi products (smartwatches) are made for everyone and anyone. Hence the shift towards more equilateral approach, much like Fossil Gen 6.
Sensors Sensing Everything
Continuing from our point above Fitbit trackers are crafted for certain audience. Its Fitbit vision to revolutionize the fitness tracking industry and they haven’t stopped working for it. Therefore, as you would see here Fitbit Sense is holy utopia of unique sensors and their prowess to measure, analyze, and present data.
Using the Fitbit Sense model you can measure sp02, resting heart rate (ECG application is available), temperature of the body to know the stress level, breathing rate (RELAX application is exclusive to Fitbit OS), and of course the basic stuff that you’d expect to remain up to date with a health tracker: steps, pace, distance, calories burned, elevation, route tracking, treadmill mode, and so on.
TicWatch E3 can also do the same. Don’t be fooled. It has ability to perform many of the activities we have mentioned above. Most prominently sp02 (Blood-Oxygenation) as unlike Fitbit Sense you can measure your reading anytime on fly.
In close battle between the health tracking supremacy I still think Fitbit Sense edges it. I guess it is not easy beating Fitbit at Fitbit game…
Connectivity Ability
TicWatch E3 and Fitbit Sense have pretty much the same set of rules for connecting with other devices. There is mobile application for both of them. You can have it installed in your phone to make life easier for you. Although, make sure you are at least running iOS 14+ and Android 8.0+ to not run into problems.
In order to transfer data there is Bluetooth and NFC functionality. Wi-Fi is also available so you can connect your social media platforms with the smartwatches. For location and tracking GPS is integrated within both watches too.
While I didn’t get to try it myself you can text and call using both of these smartwatches as well. Surely, don’t expect the same quality you would have on your phone. For a quick ‘hi’ and ‘hello’ I can’t think of a better option.
Wits To Out Wit
This is where Fitbit Sense truly suffers and after going through the resources and having used it myself I have reached the conclusion it is because Fitbit couldn’t care less. Don’t get me wrong I love the tracker and the brand too. But a time comes when you have to change your ways even if they aren’t exactly broken.
Look…
Fitbit runs on Fitbit proprietary Operating System and in hindsight it is amazing. It is smooth, it is easy to navigate, and it is bug free. However, given the rising industry standards set by Apple’s WatchOS or desperate attempt of Google with Wear OS 3 by now Fitbit should’ve taken the hint. It should have tried to find the spark it so desperately needs. Do you know in the latest Fitbit release of Versa 4 and Sense 2 there is literally no third party support. Not at all.
While I’ll never fail to acknowledge the Fitbit motto I do believe betterment can be brought, more so when I take a look at smartwatches like TicWatch E3. Running on Google Wear OS 3 it’s Snapdragon 4100 CPU is optimized for premium experience. You have labyrinth of options of third party applications, hundreds in the form of customization, aid in the shape of Google Assistant (It is also available on Fitbit Sense after Google acquisition). Like what is there not to like Mobvoi has done a wonderful job with its smartwatch. Making it not just useful but entertaining.
And what’s not to love about it…
BATTERY Life
Just like there is a big gap between core performance of two smartwatches in terms of accessibility, on the battery side, there isn’t much difference as well. Fitbit and Mobvoi have different set of threshold. While one excels at it without a doubt the other suffers and lie in ruse and despair.
Which does what though?
Lifespan Over Lifetime
Your Fitbit Sense can remain powered up for 5-6 days if you won’t abuse your usage and its functions to an extreme limit. However, even if you’d end up doing it anyway, there is still no chance you would have to put it up for charge after 24 hour of use. Fitbit have make sure the battery is well optimized to go on for 3 days minimum.
As for TicWatch E3, the less said is better, because more would be only embarrassing. Mobvoi TicWatch E3 can only go on for 24 hours without charge. Once done, you’d have to find the socket and charger.
Charging Time
For out testing time we saw both Fitbit Sense and TicWatch E3 clocking at the 100% at the same time. So if data is to be believed you can expect your smartwatches to from 0% to 100% within 90 minutes. Although, keep in mind the newer the device more likely it is to get up quickly, and vice versa.
TicWatch E3 vs Fitbit Sense: Verdict
And we have reached the end of the comparison…
Fitbit Sense is a health tracker better known for its raw analytical sight and monitoring prowess. You should go for it if your needs specifically requires to have one in command. TicWatch E3, on the other hand, is ideal smartwatch for modern day usage. You can make calls, text, customize, remain in loop with social platforms, and get all the basic activity tracking functions one might find the need off.
As I have always said, don’t go off making decisions on what you read or hear, make your decision based on your needs. At Chronoat we believe it is our duty to lead your better choices in life and what better way is there than to share our wisdom off health companions…
