You Lost The Fitbit Charger?

So it’s okay if you have lost the charger or forgot it at home. You don’t need to be shy about it. I mean it was the charger of your smartwatch and it is pretty idiotic to just forget the charger of your smartwatch, but well, who are we to judge here?

Although if the issue is of malfunctioning charging cable or charger then I’d suggest finding a replacement soon. While the methods listed below can power up your Fitbit from 0% to 100%. They might not be very reliable.

And we don’t want that, do we?

Many Ways For How To Charge Fitbit Without Charger

In order to have the best shot to give life to your Fitbit, if it has already died, you better make sure you have the following items:

  • Laptop/Computer
  • Wall-Socket (UL-Certified)
  • Power Bank
  • Charger (If it can be plugged into a Fitbit)
  • Nail Cutter
  • Tape

I know it might not be possible to have everything at any given time. Just a few or even one of them can lead to a change in fortunes for your dead Fitbit.

However, before we begin you should know this guide applies to all Fitbit devices (So it doesn’t matter if you want to know how to charge Fitbit Charge 2 without charger or you’re looking for way to power up your Versa 3 without charger). Solutions that we’ve mentioned here are universal to Fitbit trackers. Although, if you’re not sure which or what kind of Fitbit do you have, you can get helpful tips to find your answer too.

USB Port On Laptop, PC, Anywhere!

Let’s start with the basic and most easy option out there.

Under the circumstances that you have lost your charger or it is not working properly, you can always opt for a Laptop or Desktop USB port to supply the needed power to your Fitbit. What you have to do is get a USB cord that fits with your Fitbit charging connectors and has it plugged inside one of the ports on your computer.

Laptop Port

Although, I am sure you won’t make this mistake, at times people do forget to turn on the Laptop or have it changed from Sleeping Mode to Active Mode. Because if your computer would be in Rest Mode there is more than a good chance no power would be supplied to your Fitbit tracker.

Given everything would be how it should be, your Fitbit would be charged up in no time. But don’t freak out if it seems slow. It happens.

Any Power Bank Available

Okay, so not everyone would have them available all the time. If you do then you don’t have to worry about anything, because power banks are external chargers. So all you have to do is plug it in with your Fitbit charger.

Power Bank

Depending on the Power Bank you are using there might be differences in charging time or how to set it up. For most I think it is fair to assume, this would be the case:

  • Turn on the power bank.
  • Grab a USB cord.
  • Use the USB cord and have it plugged inside the port of the Power Bank and then connect it to the Fitbit tracker.
  • If your Power Bank would be okay and charged you would see your Fitbit turned on in a minute or two.

Again, don’t rush if takes more time than usual. Don’t forget it is not an official charger you are using, hence there is no need to expect normality. Although appreciate it if it happens.

Wall Chargers On The Wall

Maybe ten years ago it would have been a sight of a surprise to see USB ports in a socket.

In 2023, it isn’t the same anymore, if anything it is pretty common. So if you find yourself caged because you don’t have Power Bank or Laptop on you at the moment. It is alright, take a deep breath, and get to the nearest Wall-Socket with a USB port (UL-Certified).

Grab the cord and plug it into the socket and then into your Fitbit. Just within half an hour, your Fitbit would be up and running. However, keep in mind each Fitbit series varies with functionality and weightage it carries so time to boot up could vary.

Either way, keep calm…

“Tony Stark Was Able To Make It In A Cave.”

Alright, we are moving towards uncharted territory, so brace yourself, what lies ahead might be hard to digest and difficult to apply.

So you couldn’t try the above three written alternatives. You don’t have a Laptop. Your bag doesn’t have Power Bank, and you are in a cave so there is no way you can find Wall-Socket with a UL-Certified USB port.

What should you do?

“Cry?”

DIY Charger

No, I wouldn’t do it at this moment, let’s reserve for it later. I think your best option is to test yourself and be a little savvy. You have the bag with a nail cutter, tape, and a USB cord. In other words, you can be a Tony Stark and make a working DIY Fitbit charger with scraps in a cave.

“I can be TONY STARK?”

Yes. You can be. All you have to do is use the nail cutter to remove the insulating rubber layer from the cord. Expose the wires. Make sure you peel off any insulating material from their skin and use the red and black wires to connect it to your Fitbit charging connectors. Depending on the model there could be variations, but it wouldn’t matter much.

See! It’s pretty easy?

“But where would I get the power from?”

You have my permission to cry now…

Chargers. Just Not Fitbit Chargers.

Let’s assume you have exhausted all your options and your will is as dead as your Fitbit laying on the bed.

At this point, I would do the unspeakable and tell you to experiment. If you have any charger, any charger that can be plugged into a port, socket, or adaptor, and then connects with your Fitbit tracker. Go for it.

There is a good chance it can go wrong.

There is also a good chance it won’t.

The decision is yours.

Any Charger

Although, I would seek a replacement at this point or ask for a friend’s help to borrow their charger if they have one available. Or order a new one from Amazon.

Tips For Charging Fitbit Watch!

I’m going to assume you have succeeded in your quest to charge your Fitbit without a charger. However, these tips are not confined to those who have running Fitbit. Even if you are wearing a dead tracker in the arm right now, it’s okay, you can apply these later.

Always Use Original Chargers

For the best performance and prolonged battery life, you should always try to use the original charger that came with the tracker to charge it. While it is alright to an extent to use cheaper alternatives in the long run it might not pan out well for your Fitbit.

Charge It With Fitbit Charger

Make Sure It Is 0% Before You Aim For 100%

In other words, it is recommended, your Fitbit tracker has died or at least at the point where the smart device is asking to be plugged in for a charging session for you to act on it. Charging the device when it is 70-80% can harm the battery life.

Charge When Its 0%

Keep It Clear & Clean

If you have had the Fitbit tracker for a long time now, it is possible the reason you are noticing lackluster charging time or battery performance could be because of accumulated dust near the connectors.

Clean Fitbit

In which case you should go on a cleaning spree. Wipe everything off. Use cotton and Alcohol to rub it off. Although don’t directly put the Alcohol on the tracker (especially at the top of the sensor) at the back, intimate exposure could lead to harmful consequences.

Mindful Usage

Fitbit’s blessed with functions. You can use them to call and text. You can use them to track sleep and heartbeat. Simply, there is a lot they have to offer.

Even though the company market its product to have a battery time of 2-4 days on average across many of its series. If your usage would be extensive and heavy there is a good chance in practice the actual time would be…inadequate.

Mindful Usage

Hence, it is suggestible to be efficient to improve effectiveness. What you don’t need shouldn’t be left in the background to hog up the space and battery. Always close all the applications in the background, if you don’t need the Wi-Fi make sure it is turned off. In short: Do your best to ensure the long life for your Fitbit health tracker.

Calm & Cool

Quite often extreme heat damage the battery of a device, and not just of Fitbit trackers, or smartwatches, but any device. So, make sure you are doing everything to keep things calm and cool.

Calm & Clear

“I Have To Replace The Battery”

At times it doesn’t matter how hard we try to make something work.

Some things are just not meant to work out.

Hence if you find yourself in a situation similar to it, perhaps it is time to quit it and move on. It might cost a little, but you can always opt to replace the battery in your Fitbit. Yes, it is not advisable for Fitbit to do so, you don’t have to play by the rules – always.

Make Sure Your Fitbit Watch Is Charging!

Once your alternative mode of charging solution will start working, you should keep looking for the following signs to know your Fitbit watch is actually charging:

  • Charging Icon
  • Vibration
  • Percentage on the Battery Sign
  • Check the Fitbit mobile Application
  • LED indicator (on some Fitbit Trackers)

If you still find yourself confused then head to our guide on telling apart if your Fitbit is charging or not. We’ve talked in details on methods to find the answer and solve any issue that might arises.

Potential Problems & There Solution!

You are more than likely to run into problems when trying to charge your Fitbit Watch with charger not made by Fitbit. More so if your picked fix will be DIY Fitbit charger. In any case we feel it’s important to keep you one step ahead. Hence to make your lives easier, down below are few problems we’re shedding light for you to keep in mind!

Flawless USB Connection

It is very important that USB cord that you will be using to connect your Fitbit watch with charger is flawless. It doesn’t have any issue of it’s own. Because many times when we’re using alternative chargers chances of things working out are already quite low and there is huge element of uncertainty.

So to keep that number of uncertain moments low and slow it is recommended that you have 100% faith in the USB cord you’re using.

Cord Not Secured With Fitbit Tracker

Another important thing to be wary of is securing the connection with Fitbit tracker. Since you will be using charger not authorized by the Fitbit itself, there is good chance you’d have problem connecting the two. In which case keep the eye on the connecting end and make sure your health tracker and charger have secured connection at all times.

Debris & Dust

We’ve talked about cleaning the Fitbit tracker above, but here is another thing that you should – perhaps – wipe once or twice before using: Connecting end of your alternative charger.

Quite often the lackluster results are seen because people don’t care to wipe their power banks or ports on Laptops before connecting to their smartwatches. As a result of which stuck up dust and debris particles create enough void to cause problems on both end.

So the best way to pursue the matter here is with cleanliness and caution.

How To Charge Fitbit Without Charger All Well That Ends Well

While it is true that the method listed above holds solutions that can be circumstantial. They works. They have worked for millions of people. So who is to say they won’t for you?

I would say if anything all of them would work for you.

Be Positive. Your Fitbit would do the same…
